So when will power be restored in Northeast Ohio? While restoration estimates vary based on community, FirstEnergy says they anticipate electricity will be restored for some by 4 p.m. Tuesday and others by 4 p.m. Wednesday.
"More than 1,200 line workers and support personnel are engaged in our restoration efforts, including support from contractors and our sister companies. "They will continue working 24/7 to restore service to about 28,000 customers who remain without power across northeast Ohio," FirstEnergy told 3News on Monday.
Meanwhile, AEP Ohio says they have restored 90% of the over 125,000 customers who lost power. More than 2,000 linemen are still working to bring back power for the remaining 15,000 customers.
In Broadview Heights, Leland Vitanza was home on Saturday when the storm passed through. "My dad came home from work, the power just goes out and we look around and there are trees all over the place," he recalled.
Their house has been without power for days, leaving the inside feeling like its 28 degrees.
"My mom and the kids had to go to my grandma's because its so cold in here. It's been horrible for them. We've had to eat out because we can't cook, there's no power," Vitanza added.
To make things worse, his family has had to throw out about $700 worth of food because of the outage.
The good news is Vitanza's family was told their power will be restored by Tuesday.
Amid the high winds, a plane at Burke Lakefront Airport was seen overturned on Saturday evening. 3News reached out to the airport and was able to confirm that the single-engine aircraft was overturned due to high wind conditions.
Shaker Heights was also impacted by the storm damage with trees being knocked down.
