CLEVELAND — The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for multiple Northeast Ohio counties Tuesday evening, and 3News is working to determine the extent of any damage in the area.
According to the NWS, wind gusts of 60 miles per hour were possible along with damage to trees and power lines. While more than 10,000 FirstEnergy customers are currently without power, the bulk of those are in the Toledo area.
In addition, there is a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until midnight for the following counties:
- Ashtabula
- Geauga
The National Weather Service notes that scattered wind gusts of 70 miles per hour are possible with the potential of "frequent lightning" and "isolated, quarter-size hail."
The 3News Weather Impact Alert will continue into Wednesday morning as we expect the potential for some strong to severe storms as we start the day.
It's going to stay very warm and humid overnight with temperatures only falling back into the 70s. We will watch some development off to the west to see what can develop/hold together into the morning hours. Whatever storms arrive could pack a punch with heavy rain and potentially damaging winds. This could cause some issues and slowdowns for your morning plans. Have a way to get warnings and check the radar before you head out the door.
