CLEVELAND — A severe thunderstorm warning is currently in effect for parts of two Northeast Ohio counties.
The National Weather Service issued the alert for central Ashland County and northeastern Richland County until 7:15. Other warnings were issued for parts of Geauga, Medina, Portage, and Summit Counties, but those have since expired.
For the portions of the region that remain under the warning, officials say wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour and quarter-sized hail should be expected, along with damage to trees and power lines. Citizens in localities such as Mansfield and Ashland are advised to get to the lowest floors of their buildings.
