CLEVELAND — The National Weather Service has canceled a tornado warning for portions of Geauga and Trumbull counties.
Officials first noticed "severe thunderstorms capable of producing a tornado" over Burton around 5:15 p.m., moving east. Middlefield and West Farmington were among the areas expected to be hardest hit.
The alert expired just before 6 p.m., and it is still unknown if a tornado officially touched down in the region. Quarter-sized hail was forecast, along with heavy damage to homes and trees along with possible flying debris.
