CLEVELAND — The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Erie County until 1 a.m. on Saturday morning.
According to the NWS, at 7:58 p.m., local law enforcement reported that a couple roads in Huron were flooded. Additional thunderstorms producing heavy rain will move across the warned area.
Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly and will impact small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
According to the 3News Weather Team, an approaching low is expected to ignite a realm a strong to severe thunderstorms. This will carry with it a risk of damaging winds, heavy rain (potentially leading to some flooding), thunder, lightning, and the isolated risk for tornadoes. There was a tornado warning for Lorain County earlier on Friday.
For Saturday, there lies a wide period of sun and clouds which will be a break from the wet weather. Towards the afternoon and evening hours, a cluster of storms will move across the lower Great Lakes region. Some uncertainty remains where the heaviest precipitation will fall and the exact timeline but again, very important to plan accordingly in the event that severe weather happens near you.
