AKRON, Ohio — Akron, Cleveland and Canton have all opened warming centers for residents amid a bout of frigid temperatures in Northeast Ohio.
3News has compiled a list of the locations of the warming centers, as well as their hours.
AKRON
The Summit Lake Community Center | 380 W Crosier St, Akron
- Sunday, Jan. 14 until Friday, Jan. 19
- The center will be open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day.
Akron Emergency Overnight Shelter | 111 East Voris Street, Akron
- Saturday, Jan. 13 through Monday, Jan. 22
- The shelter operates between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m.

“With frigid temperatures setting in this weekend, we want to make sure everyone has somewhere to go to keep warm and be out of the elements,” said Mayor Shammas Malik. “We will continue to monitor the temperatures in the days ahead and determine if we need to extend these hours. I applaud the efforts of the organizations collaborating on the emergency overnight shelter to keep folks sheltered during the coldest periods at night. We’ve set our hours to correspond with theirs so that no matter the time, residents will have somewhere to go.”

- Monday, Jan. 15, at 6 p.m. through Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 8 a.m.
