Most of Northeast Ohio is currently under an excessive heat warning until Saturday night, with indexes expected to fly past 100 degrees.
Temperatures will reach dangerous levels, and officials have been sharing tips all week to help people stay safe. In addition, many cities will be opening up cooling centers.
FORECAST: Severe Storms Possible, Heat Continues
With the air already blazing hot, WKYC's own Matt Wintz streamed live on Facebook earlier this afternoon, and was able to address some of your concerns.
Among the things Matt brought up:
- Temperatures will feel as hot as 100+ degrees, with not much relief at night with temps in the mid-80s
- Heat is the No. 1 weather-related killer, with 108 deaths in the United States last year alone
- Dewpoints will be around 75 degrees, meaning residents should be prepared to sweat a lot
- Although the excessive heat warning expires Saturday night, temps on Sunday afternoon could still reach the 90s
- There is some possible rain in the forecast Friday night, mostly around Portage and Summit Counties
- While you can still go outside, it may be best to spend more time indoors this weekend
