CLEVELAND — Saturday's heavy rain left some residents of Shorewood Apartments in Cleveland wondering where they would stay the night. Their concerns arose after the storm destroyed the roof of their apartment complex nearly two weeks ago.
3News walked through the hallways of Shorewood Apartments and witnessed heavy water leaking from the roof, cascading down to the fourth floor and destroying one man's apartment.
One resident shared that he has been living in wet conditions every time it rains since the roof was damaged earlier this month.
Management at Smartland Property Management, the company that owns Shorewood Apartments, stated that they are actively working to resolve the issue.
"We have a team here today working on it right now. They're focused on water mitigation, cleanup, and getting residents comfortable and situated, so we hope this will be resolved very quickly," said Steven Gesis of Smartland Property Management.
Despite the property management's efforts, some residents remain uneasy about the situation.
"All I can do is try to save myself. I'm just hoping someone from upper management will come and do something to fix this because it’s not right. We're just trying to figure out where we’re going to go, our next move," said Devin Cooper, whose apartment was destroyed by rainwater.
Throughout this situation, property management has offered accommodations, including moving residents to other units.
