CLEVELAND — Editor's note: the video in the player above is from a previous story.
The United States Postal Service is asking for your help in keeping walkways, sidewalks, and other areas around your mailbox clear from snow and ice.
Keeping others safe should always be a priority, and your mail carrier is no different. Ensuring that the areas around mailboxes clear will also help to keep not only the delivery of your mail on time, but the mail of others as well. When patches of snow and ice are in front of mailboxes, it becomes more difficult for the mail to be delivered safely. Making sure that area is clear, including any steps, porches, walkways and street approaches, helps to ensure safety during the brutal winter months.
The USPS also asks that any customers expecting a curbside delivery keep their mailboxes clear so that the carrier can access it.
Reasonable efforts by the postal service are always made to deliver mail in adverse weather conditions. Keeping everyone safe not only includes letter carriers, but also your property and your neighbors.
