CLEVELAND — We’re going to experience spring and winter in a matter of hours.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a series of weather alerts throughout Northeast Ohio in connection to the big changes we’re tracking.

Below is a breakdown of all the weather alerts along with a timeline of when to expect the changes in your area.

TIMELINE

THURSDAY MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON

Temperatures will stay on the mild side with highs in the 50s. Rain – heavy at times – will bring upwards of an inch of precipitation.

“That is a lot of rain in a very short amount of time on top of snow melt,” says 3News meteorologist Hollie Strano.

That’s why we have flooding concerns for the entire Northeast Ohio region.

Breezy conditions will continue as well with sustained winds ranging from 15-25 mph.

THURSDAY EVENING

The mild temperatures will fall very fast at this point.

“We hit the 30s this evening and into the first part of tonight,” Strano says. “That’s where we get into ice concerns.”

Strano says there will be a period from roughly 6-10 p.m. where we deal with freezing rain and sleet before transitioning over to all snow.

“It’s all about the timing. We’re not looking at a foot of snow here by any stretch, but 1-3” on top of some potential ice.”

FRIDAY MORNING

Snow continues early before moving out and making way for sunshine, but the frigid temperatures could also mean a flash freeze is possible. Any untreated surfaces will be icy.
