Flash Flood Warning in place for northern Ashtabula County

The warning is in effect through 6 p.m. this evening.

CLEVELAND — As we continue to observe a Weather Impact Alert Day in Northeast Ohio, the National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for the northern part of Ashtabula County until 6 p.m.

According to the NWS, "at 2:01 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly."

Some of the locations that are expected to experience flash flooding include Ashtabula, Conneaut, Geneva-On-The-Lake, Geneva, North Kingsville, Austinburg, Kingsville, Pierpont, Plymouth Center, Edgewood and Kelloggsville.

Earlier this afternoon, parts of Ashtabula County were under a Tornado Warning as well as a Severe Thunderstorm Warning. The National Weather Service indicated that some parts of the warning area may experience "ping pong ball size hail" with winds gusting up to 60 miles per hour.
