LATEST WINTER WEATHER UPDATES

3:25 p.m. The National Weather Service has announced that a Winter Weather Advisory will be in place for the following counties starting at 11 p.m. tonight through 7 a.m. on Friday:

  • Cuyahoga 
  • Lake
  • Geauga
  • Ashtabula (Inland and Lakeshore)

The NWS says lake effect snow is expected in the affected counties with up to 3 to 6 inches possible by Friday morning, locally higher amounts up to 8 inches are possible where snow is most persistent in the higher terrain of eastern Cuyahoga County, southern Lake County, and northern Geauga County. 

Northwest winds will be gusting as high as 30 mph Thursday morning. Slippery road conditions could impact the morning and evening commute.

1:37 p.m. Summit County Sheriff's Office cancelled the Level 1 Snow Emergency 

1:15 p.m. A look from Akron-Canton Airport following the snowstorm 

1:10 p.m. ODOT is reporting that I-75 Southbound is mostly blocked at the Ohio/Michigan line

12:18 p.m. FirstEnergy is reporting nearly 1,000 power outages in Cuyahoga County -- most of which are in Cleveland.

12:17 p.m. ODOT says the left two lanes of I-71 South have reopened following a semi crash near I-76 in Medina County.

12:04 p.m. What's next from the wintry weather? We have rain this afternoon before lake effect snow kicks in late tonight and into tomorrow.

11:16 a.m. Heads up! There's a crash on I-71 South near the Turnpike.

11:12 a.m. The Level 1 snow emergency has been lifted in Portage County.

7:50 a.m. The left lane is blocked on I-480 East at the Valley View Bridge due to a crash:

7:39 a.m. ODOT gave us the following detour information amid the closure of I-71 South near I-76 in Medina County:

7:37 a.m. ODOT says they now have 1,157 crews out across the entire state.

6:50 a.m. All lanes of I-71 South are CLOSED just south of I-76 in southern Medina County due to a semi crash. ODOT says there is no estimate on how long the roadway will remain closed:

6:20 a.m. Summit County is under a Level 1 snow emergency: 

Sheriff Fatheree has issued a LEVEL 1 SNOW EMERGENCY ADVISORY for Summit County. Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow and may be icy. Motorists are urged to drive cautiously.
