AURORA, Ohio — New life is coming to the former Cinemark 10 movie theater at Barrington Plaza in Aurora as Atlas Cinemas steps in to reopen the location.
Aurora Mayor Ann Womer Benjamin announced details this week, saying a lease agreement has been finalized between Atlas Cinemas and Guggenheim Real Estate Group to renovate and reopen the theater, which has been closed for several years.
“Aurora city leadership has worked with Guggenheim, Inc. since the summer of 2020 to secure a new tenant for the theater following the unexpected closure of Cinemark 10 during the pandemic,” according to the mayor’s report. “Atlas Cinemas is expected to begin renovations this month, which will include the installation of high-back leather rocker glider seats in each auditorium, with a planned opening in the spring.”
So what changes can moviegoers expect?
- Installation of high-back leather rocker glider seats in every auditorium
- Wall-to-wall screens in all 10 auditoriums
- “Immersive eye-popping digital presentation” and digital surround sound
- RealD 3D technology in select auditoriums
- Renovated concession area with alcoholic beverages and “a full spectrum of concession food options"
Atlas Cinemas Barrington will also feature Hollywood’s newest movies along with Bollywood films, art house selections, concerts, operas and Fathom Events.
The theater is expected to reopen by this spring.
Atlas Cinemas currently operates multiple locations in Northeast Ohio, including theaters in Euclid, Mentor, Mayfield Heights and Cleveland.
