CLEVELAND — Some Taylor Swift fans are likely feeling pretty tired today after the release of her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, which came at midnight Friday -- and a surprise with even more songs that dropped at 2 a.m.
To celebrate Swift and give her fans, known as "Swifties," a space to come together, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland is hosting a Taylor Swift Fan Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 19. The day will include a DJ playing Swift’s songs, friendship bracelet making, trivia, photo opportunities and of course, the chance to listen to the new album, among other activities.
“I hope that they are excited to meet other Swifites, are excited to feel connected with Taylor, but also are excited to have a place to experience the excitement of the new album with a community,” said Melanie Wiggins, the Director of Marketing at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Wiggins said a big attraction is expected to be some of Swift’s artifacts currently on display in the museum, including the cardigan she wore in a music video on her album Folklore, and her costume for the music video for her song "Willow."
Wiggins has seen the hype and excitement around the new album and Taylor Swift herself.
“I have friends who are taking off work, I’ve heard of people picking up their kids early from school, so the Taylor effect is real,” Wiggins said. “I think she has such a unique ability to tell stories in a way that’s so universal.”
This isn’t the first time the Rock Hall has done a day like this. Just last month, Wiggins said they hosted a Beyoncé fan day. She said like Beyoncé, Swift has a vibrant, excited fan base who they are excited to welcome in to celebrate music.
Members and Cleveland residents can access the day for free, while other guests will need to purchase tickets. For more information about tickets, hours, and an exact timeline of the fan day, click here.
