SANDUSKY, Ohio — Cedar Point hosted six spooky zombie-themed weddings Friday as the Sandusky scream begins its 2019 HalloWeekends event.
“Six couples, completely decked out in their finest afterlife couture, will tie the proverbial knot as friends, family and creatures of the night witness the power of their undying love,” Cedar Point officials said.
The undead ceremonies took place at 6:30 p.m. in the Harvest Fear fright zone near the park’s iconic Town Hall.
Even creepier? It was Friday the 13th.
The couples were selected by entering a contest in which they had to explain why they would be the perfect fit for a zombie-themed wedding at the park. Each couple will also be awarded with season passes for the 2020 season.
The full moon hanging high over the park was the backdrop, with people wandering around in monster and zombie makeup. To some, it was the perfect setting for love.
"Chris and I actually met at cedar point so we thought this would be the perfect wedding for us," Sam Meyer said. "We love Halloween and we’re here all the time."
HalloWeekends features multiple haunted attractions, live shows, family friendly activities and a special Halloween parade that pays tribute to Snoopy’s pals in the “Great Pumpkin.”
New this year is CornStalkers II: Revenge of the Pumpkin Heads – an overhaul of the popular CornStalkers haunted attraction, which Cedar Point describes as follows:
Just when you thought walking through the dark and foggy corn field was spooky enough, it gets worse! Demented pumpkin heads, along with farmers, animals and living corn stalks, are doing everything they can to terrorize and spook you into never coming back again.
2019 marks the 23rd season for HalloWeekends.
