CLEVELAND — What’s New with Jay Crawford and Betsy Kling is kicking off the week with guest Kevin Myeroff, Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and retired Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Myeroff works for NCA Financial Planners, a company that has dedicated over 30 years to helping clients achieve their financial goals.
Here are three things he says people can do to save money in the new year:
52-week challenge – easy and fun
- Saving 1 dollar for each week of the year, increasing up to $52 per week. Over the course of the year, you’ll save $1,378
Packing lunches and coffee – makes an impact (can pay for a vacation)
- On average, it costs around $11 to eat out for lunch and only around $6 to pack. That’s a savings of $5 per day or $25 per work week. Over the course of the year, you’ll save $1,300
- On average, it costs around $3 for a cup of coffee from a restaurant/grab and go. If you brew via a K-cup or grounds, it cost around 75 cents on average. Over a year, you’ll save $2.25 per day or $11.25 per work week. Over the course of a year, you’ll save $585
Increase your retirement plan contribution – saving for the future
- Increasing your retirement plan contribution by 1% every year
- If you make $50,000 per year, the increase of $500 in savings, equates to around $20 per paycheck.
