CLEVELAND — Last year, the WKYC Studios marketing team, along with 3News anchor Russ Mitchell, created a heartwarming and inspiring promo about living out your dreams.
The "Dare to Dream" spot aired during the Olympics and captured everyone's hearts. It also won an Emmy Award earlier this summer. It features a boy named Peyton Bishop, playing Russ as a young child, aspiring to be a journalist.
During Monday's edition of "What's New," we welcomed Peyton and his parents with a red carpet walk into our studio. Russ presented Peyton with his Emmy Award, while Jay Crawford and Christi Paul handed him a gift card for some ice cream, as well as a "swag bag" full of WKYC Studios gear.
Russ referred to "Dare to Dream" as the "most incredible honor I've ever had in my career." You'll understand why when you watch it below. Many thanks to Peyton and his family for being a part of this memorable spot!
Al Roker of NBC's TODAY offered his reaction to the award-winning promo during his appearance on GO! early Tuesday morning, which you can watch below:
