BRUNSWICK, Ohio — It takes only a second to save a life. Brunswick Police Officers Ron DeAmicis and Jeff Garcia know that first hand.
On Wednesday, the officers were recognized for their quick thinking and efforts to save an infant's life last month.
On February 22, just after 7 p.m. the officers responded to a parking lot on Center Road for a call for a baby inside a vehicle not breathing. At the scene, the officers displayed their skill remaining calm, and clearing the baby girl's airway so that she could breathe again.
The Brunswick Police Department shared the moment on Facebook, saying their work "undoubtedly saved the infant's life."
The baby was transported to a local emergency room and has since been released in good condition.
According to the Brunswick Police Department, this is the fifth life-saving award for Officer Garcia and the second for Officer DeAmicis.
