Lorain County Sheriff's Office mourning passing of beloved former K-9 officer Ozzy

"Ozzy will be dearly missed, but never forgotten."

ELYRIA, Ohio — The Lorain County Sheriff's Office says former K-9 officer Ozzy passed away late last month after a long battle with an auto immune illness.

Ozzy was 12-years-old.

He was a certified, dual-purpose, law enforcement K-9 who served alongside human partner Sgt. Bryan Barnes from April 18, 2008 until Ozzy retired December 31, 2012.

Ozzy is described as 'an amazing partner, friend, protector and Barnes family member.'

In the words of the Lorain County Sheriff's Office, "Ozzy will be dearly missed, but, never forgotten."
