CLEVELAND — By now, my kids have played with every toy in the house. And for some reason, the big cardboard box that occasionally makes it to our doorstep is always a new thrill.
I was racking my brain, trying to come up with something we could play with either indoors or outdoors (depending on the rain), when I had a vision. What about a ball toss? Not quite basketball, but something similar? Something they would play at an amusement park or Dave & Busters...
We had a huge flat box from a table I ordered, which would create a great "backboard." Any size box or poster board will work.
I wrote down 20, 10 and 5 on pieces of paper. I taped these randomly on the box so we could have a point system.
Then I went into my stash of little plastic cups, got the hot glue gun and attached the "baskets."
Since it was warm and nice, but we were expecting rain, we dragged the ball drop game outside. It was perfect!
The cups were small, so it took a few tries to get one in. But when we did, it was sweet victory!
And now the cardboard box has truly become one of their favorite toys.
