CLEVELAND — At this point, we are well over half-way through summer break. The days are long, there are a ton of activities, and a lot of moms are trying to keep our energy levels up. Sometimes, it’s more than just energy levels -- it's sanity, too.
On today's Mom Squad, we talked with Dr. Neha Vyas with the Cleveland Clinic. She weighs in on what's best to do when you hit that post-lunch slump.
“The jury is still out on whether exercise or napping is the best way to go about that 3 o'clock slump. Certainly, I recommend trying exercise because, for the majority of us, exercise does tend to help perk us up,” says Vyas.
“But if it all comes down to it, and you just can't keep your eyes open, then a quick nap, less than 20 minutes or so usually does the trick. But make sure you don't sleep for more than an hour or so.”
Dr. Vyas also talks about when to reach for caffeine or energy drinks and how that can also be a pitfall to your overall health. So, before you reach for that iced coffee this afternoon, watch mom squad on Apple TV, Roku and Fire tv.
