BEACHWOOD, Ohio — Archie's Hough Bakeries is ready to rise again.
The iconic bakery is holding a soft opening this weekend for its new Beachwood spot, located at 3365 Richmond Road.
The bakery will open its doors Friday and Saturday at 9 a.m., and will sell a limited menu until quantities run out.
The original Hough Bakery was known for its cakes. Archie Garner worked for Hough Bakery for 25 years and acquired the recipe for the beloved cakes, which he continued baking when he opened Archie's Lakeshore Bakery in 1994.
Hough Bakery closed its doors after filing for bankruptcy in 1992, but Garner continued to create its iconic cakes for Clevelanders, until he was hit with leasing issues with his landlord, forcing his lease to expire last year.
Garner finally found his Beachwood location, which he announced in March. After a few setbacks, the spot is finally ready to return Clevelanders to the nostalgia of Hough Bakery cakes.
