AKRON, Ohio — Back in late April, we told you that Parasson’s was planning to reopen the dining room of their Akron restaurant on June 3 -- but we've now learned the grand reopening at the location on 959 E. Waterloo Road has been postponed by one week until June 10.
“We are spending over $125,000.00 on a brand-new parking lot and lighting,” the company explains in a message shared on their site. “We have encountered some delays and need additional time to complete the project. We also are going to be remodeling the exterior of the building over the summer. Please stay tuned for further details. We sincerely regret the postponement but we hope you understand. We will see you soon!”
This comes after Parasson's -- which has been a staple of Northeast Ohio for decades -- has been operating their Italian restaurant as a takeout business in recent years amid the COVID pandemic.
PARASSON’S CLOSURES IN BARBERTON AND STOW
The reopening of the Akron dining room also comes as Parasson's previously announced the closures of their locations in Barberton and Stow.
“To simplify and streamline operations and to improve efficiency, we are consolidating our restaurants into a single location,” said Tony Parasson, president and son of the company’s late founder. “This will better enable us to continue to provide the excellent homemade food, service, cleanliness and value that our customers have come to expect since our founding in 1960.”
The Akron Parasson’s was chosen to stay open as the company’s statement says it is centrally located between Barberton and Stow, while noting it “has always been our busiest location.”
“All employees at our Barberton and Stow locations have been offered jobs at our Akron location,” according to the previous statement from Parasson’s. “We would like to thank all of our loyal Barberton and Stow customers and invite them to visit us in Akron.”
Parasson’s also previously revealed they have expanded their delivery options by partnering with DoorDash within a 10-mile radius of the Akron restaurant, “which encompasses some of our Barberton and Stow customers.”
“We are proud to be a local, family-owned business that has been serving the community and making memories for over 64 years,” according to their statement. “We look forward to celebrating our grand reopening with you.”
