CLEVELAND — BonBons, chocolate bunnies, sweet treats, oh my!
Nestled on the Cleveland's east side in the North Collinwood neighborhood is a quaint chocolate shop called Sweet Bean. It's owned by Kristin Barnes, a former marketing professional who was inspired to start her business after taking a chocolatier class that she found on Groupon.
Soon after, thanks to a Christmas gift from her husband, Barnes began making and selling chocolate to her friends and family. It all began with small boxes for Valentine's Day.
Fast forward to February of 2020 and, in the midst of the pandemic, Barnes found her current space and opened his first brick and mortar location.
Sweet Bean specializes in hand-painted bon bons, hand-filled chocolates, and bean to bar. The business is available for private and corporate events, in addition to weddings, showers, and other special occasions.
Sweet Bean also supports other local business, carrying an assortment of local products from cards and honey to candles and granola. The store is located at 819 East 185th St. and is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
