MENTOR, Ohio — A Northeast Ohio TGI Fridays location has permanently closed its doors.
A spokesperson for the restaurant confirmed to 3News that the Mentor location on Reynolds Road closed on May 14.
The closure comes just over four months after TGI Fridays abruptly closed 36 "underperforming locations" in 12 states as "part of the brand's ongoing growth strategy." However, at the time, no Ohio locations closed.
As part of the closure, TGI Fridays says that transfer opportunities have been offered to many of the Mentor location's employees.
"We want to thank our loyal guests who’ve supported Fridays during our 29 years in Mentor," said TGI Fridays in a statement to 3News.
TGI Fridays still has locations in Northeast Ohio in Brooklyn, Strongsville, Stow, Canton and Sandusky at Cedar Point.
