NORTON, Ohio — Emma Pfouts turned 17-years-old on Wednesday and her classmates at Norton High School gathered together to make it a specal day for her.
Emma, who spent weeks in a medically induced coma, remains in recovery at Akron Children's Hospital months after collapsing at the Norton High School homecoming dance last October.
Her classmates recorded a video for her -- where every student dressed in Ohio State colors. OSU is Emma's favorite college.
Emma's family is asking the community to send birthday cards her way as well.
Cards can be mailed to:
Akron Children’s Hospital
Transitional Care – Attn: Emma Pfouts
214 West Bowery Street
Akron, OH 44308
You can also send an eCard -- which will be printed and delivered to Emma at the hospital -- by clicking here.
Her family told 3News' Andrew Horansky that Emma received between 300-400 cards for Valentine's Day last week as she continues making progress.
“The first time she said, ‘I’m fine, let’s go home,’’ her mother, Christina Weigand said, adding that Emma’s personality keeps coming through.
