STRONGSVILLE, Ohio — After wandering the streets of Strongsville for nearly five days, an elusive Siberian husky named Dixie is being reunited with her family.
The 4-year-old Husky unexpectedly jumped a fence last weekend, and with no shelter and no readily available food, the dog's owner go more concerned by the day.
3News' Lynna Lai first told you this story Monday after the search for Dixie garnered the attention of neighbors and the community at-large.
With the community sharing updates and sightings on social media, Vanessa Petrosky, the founder of Remi's Pet Recovery, decided to help.
The non-profit organization, based in Brook Park, aids in the humane and safe capture, rehabilitation, and adoption of stray dogs, and to help reunite pet owners with their lost dogs.
Petrosky spung into action. She baited a trap with McDonald's and KFC, but the husky was far too smart. Dixie would only close enough to the trap to eat the snacks near the trap's door, but would never go inside.
But finally after five days, hot dogs and soft bedding would do the trick.
Mission complete.
