AKRON, Ohio — A homicide in Akron from earlier this month has an update as a suspect has been identified and arrested by authorities, including city police and a member of the U.S. Marshals' North Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.
A 17-year-old boy has been apprehended in connection with the shooting death of Steven Sitts on Oct. 2 in Akron. On that Saturday, officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Dayton Street in Akron at approximately 5:40 p.m. Upon arrival, Sitts was found inside with a fatal gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene.
In the time since, investigators were able to identify the teen as a suspect and issue a warrant for his arrest. On Monday afternoon, around 4:16 p.m., the authorities tracked him to a home in the 900 block of the same street, where he was taken into custody without incident.
The accused is currently being held at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Facility on charges of aggravated murder and aggravated robbery. Police did not share details regarding court dates.
