AKRON, Ohio — A 19-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint in Akron on Saturday morning after arranging to purchase a PlayStation 5 on Facebook Marketplace.
According to the Akron Police Department, officers responded to the 1500 block of Kenmore Blvd. at 8:23 a.m. for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, officers located a 19-year-old victim who said that he had arranged to meet the suspect to purchase the video gaming system via Facebook Marketplace.
After arriving at the location, the victim said that he transferred the suspect an undisclosed amount of money via a cash app. The suspect then allegedly produced a handgun and demanded the victim leave the area, before walking a block and entering a nearby car.
The victim said that he then followed the suspect a short distance before the suspect allegedly got out of the car and pointed the handgun at the victim a second time. An investigation into the matter remains ongoing.
