MANSFIELD, Ohio — Three people have been taken to local hospitals following a shooting in Mansfield Tuesday afternoon.

Police say a 71-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man were shot "multiple" times on the 500 block of Louise Avenue around 2:45 p.m. A short time later, a 16-year-old boy was found at a local hospital, and authorities determined he had also been shot in the incident.

Witnesses told investigators the three victims were outside in the neighborhood when a "dark colored vehicle" approached and at least one person (possibly more) fired an unknown amount of gunshots. No additional information regarding possible suspects is available at this time.

Both the man and the teen are said to have suffered serious but "non-life threatening injuries," but the elderly woman was apparenty in "very serious" condition upon arrival at the hospital. Officials have not established a possible motive for the shooting.

This matter remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to immediately call either Det. Larry Schacherer at (419) 755-9766 or Det. Terry Butler at (419) 755-9791.
