CLEVELAND — A serious of shootings over Labor Day weekend has left two people dead and six others injured in Cleveland.
The violence began Friday evening just after 7:45 p.m., when three unknown males apparently shot a 19-year-old man as he sat inside a vehicle they had just occupied with him. Officers found the victim on the 7200 block of Central Avenue and he was later taken to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. He has since been identified as Corey Lee Davis.

Three days later around 7:30 p.m., authorities located two 25-year-old men with multiple gunshot wounds after both were apparently hit in a drive-by incident near the intersection of East 71st Street and Hough Avenue. The silver car then fled the scene, and one of the victims was later pronounced dead at UH.
The two killings bookended four other shootings that took place during the roughly four-day period:
- Friday, 8:16 p.m.: A woman was shot in her left groin near the intersection of East 126th Street and Arlington Avenue; taken to UH by private auto
- Saturday, 8:50 p.m.: 27-year-old woman shot in the arm and 21-year-old man shot in the leg during a robbery of a Subway on Denison Avenue
- Monday, 1:01 a.m.: 22-year-old man shot in the arm, stomach, and thigh on the 2500 block of East 43rd Street; drove himself to St. Vincent Charity Medical Center
- Monday, 5:01 a.m.: A man was shot somewhere in the Flats; later taken to MetroHealth Medical center in a private vehicle
In addition, a 21-year-old woman and three children between the ages of 12 and 15 were badly injured after the older victim struck a utility poll while driving the group Saturday afternoon near West 54th Street and Clark Avenue, and police are still searching for the suspect in a hit-skip that took place early Monday morning on West 9th Street in the Flats. There were also three fatal overdoses within the city during the weekend.
