AKRON, Ohio — Akron police say the suspect -- 34-year-old Brandon Evans -- accused of shooting a man in the foot is in custody after being captured by U.S. Marshals.
According to a report from the Akron Police Department, officers were called to the 200 block of Crosby Street just after 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning for a shooting. When police arrived, they found a 33-year-old man on the ground with a gunshot to his left foot.
"According to the victim, he ran away fearing that the suspect was going to kill him," Akron police explained.
Officials say as Akron officers began canvassing the area, they were able to recover a shell casing from the scene. Police identified the suspect as Evans and began a search. Evans was caught by the U.S. Marshals' Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force near Glendale Cemetery "shortly thereafter."
Evans was taken to Summit County Jail and has been charged with felonious assault.
Police add that the cause of the shooting is unknown and the incident remains under investigation.
