ASHLAND, Ohio — Police in Ashland County are investigating after a woman's body was found in a wooded area on Wednesday.
According to Ashland Police Chief David Marcelli, the investigation into the case started early Tuesday morning, when dispatchers received a call from a family member that a male relative had admitted to killing a female he met at a bar in Ashland.
Later on Tuesday, officers received a report about a missing Mansfield woman who was last seen at a bar in Ashland on Monday evening and had left with a White male. Detectives tracked the man down in Cleveland and brought him back to Ashland for questioning. He is being held pending possible charges.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Ashland County Coroner's Office are investigating the area where the woman's body was found. The victim has been identified as Tina L. Goad.
The man's name is being withheld as he has not yet been charged.
