CLEVELAND — Cameron Howard, the 26-year-old Cleveland man accused of attacking an Orange Village police officer last month, is being held on a $750,000 bond, which was set during an arraignment hearing in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court on Thursday morning.
Moments before the judge set bond, Howard, who pleaded not guilty in the case, made it known he wanted to say something despite his attorney urging him to remain silent.
"I'm innocent," Howard said.
That's when the defense continued with their request he not say anything further.
“Mr. Howard, do not say anything at this time," the defense attorney said. "We’ve entered a not guilty plea. Please listen to my advice.”
Howard is due back in court for a pretrial hearing on April 14 at 9 a.m.

Howard faces charges of attempted aggravated murder, attempted murder and two counts of felonious assault for the March 30 incident.
The alleged situation began place when authorities responded to the Extended Stay America Hotel in the 3800 block of Orange Place amid reports of an unwanted guest who was "being disrespectful to hotel staff."
After making contact with Howard at the scene, a physical altercation ensued in which authorities say Howard was “armed with a knife.” During the attack, Orange Village police say Sgt. Mike Debeljak sustained “significant injuries.” The officer was taken to the hospital with lacerations to the head, neck and hands. He’s expected to make a full recovery.
A GoFundMe has been launched to raise money for the officer and his family.
"He has a long road ahead of him, both physically and mentally," according to the GoFundMe. "Your support is much appreciated as he and his family face the challenges brought on by this vicious attack."
