ORANGE, Ohio — The man accused of stabbing an Orange Village police officer last week is facing several charges, including attempted aggravated murder.

Cameron Howard, 26, of Cleveland, has been charged with attempted aggravated murder, attempted murder, and two counts of felonious assault in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

On March 30, police were called to the Extended Stay America Hotel, located in the 3800 block of Orange Place, for reports of an unwanted guest who was "being disrespectful to hotel staff."

The officers at the scene made contact with Howard and a physical altercation then ensued. During the altercation, the suspect used an 'edged weapon' to attack officers without warning or provocation, police say.
