WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, Ohio — A 22-year-old man was arrested early Thursday morning after being identified as the suspect in a rape case that authorities say involves a victim under the age of 10.
Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Oakwood Village Police Department took Detemtrius Simmons into custody after a warrant was issued for him Wednesday morning.
Simmons was found in the 4500 block of Granada Blvd in Warrensville Heights. Occupants of the residence were noncompliant when members of the task force made contact at the front door, authorities said.
“The door was forced open by officers,” according to a press release.
Once inside the home, Simmons was taken into custody without incident.
“Swift work by the Oakwood Village Police and members of our task force have taken a violent individual who preyed on a child off the streets,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said. “Law enforcement will work day and night to ensure that predators such as this are behind bars and not roaming through society.”
Also arrested at the home was 23-year-old Woodrow Johnson. Authorities said Johnson had an active warrant from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department for probation violation with underlying offenses of assault and burglary.
