CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police says it is continuing to investigate several related incidents of violent crime that took place on Saturday, including the fatal shooting of a teen suspect who allegedly attempted to rob an Amazon driver.
In a release that was sent on Wednesday, police laid out the timeline of a series of carjackings and aggravated robberies that occurred within approximately 90 minutes on Saturday afternoon.
Five juvenile suspects between the ages of 12 and 17 have been identified, including the 17-year-old who was fatally shot. Two suspects have been arrested.
The Timeline
1. Police say that shortly after 2:25 p.m. a victim was carjacked at gunpoint of his vehicle at 1300 block of Old River Road.
2. The suspects then allegedly fled in the victim's vehicle and drove to the area of West 88th and Denison Avenue, robbing a person at gunpoint and stealing his I-Pad.
3. At about 3:00 p.m., investigators report that the same vehicle drove to West 73r and Colgate, robbing a person of his iPhone.
4. The suspects then allegedly drove to West 130th and Brookpark Road, carjacking an additional vehicle at gunpoint.
5. Around 4:00 p.m. the two stolen vehicles with the suspects are said by police to have arrived at 48th and Franklin. The suspects allegedly carjacked the vehicle of an Amazon delivery person.
Police say during this incident, a 17-year-old suspect "drove away in the victim’s vehicle with several shots fired which resulted in the death" of the suspect.
The investigation is 'active and ongoing,' according to the Cleveland Division of Police.
