A 34-year-old woman accused of killing the father of her children by running over him with a car in Cleveland last month has been indicted on murder charges.
According to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office, Shaniqua Menefee has been indicted on the following charges related to the death of a 35-year-old man:
- One count of Aggravated Murder
- Two counts of Murder
- Two counts of Felonious Assault
The incident occurred on June 25 when authorities say the victim went to Menefee’s residence near East 155th Street and Talford Avenue in Cleveland, where a verbal altercation ensued. Authorities say the victim left Menefee’s residence and began walking up the street and that Menefee then started to follow the victim in her vehicle as the arguing continued.
As they approached Glendale Avenue and East 155th Street, Menefee is alleged to have driven her car up onto the front lawn of a residence, running over the victim. The victim began screaming for help as he was trapped underneath the vehicle, with Menefee attempting to reverse her vehicle as the vehicle remained stuck. She is alleged to have then exited her vehicle, fleeing the scene on foot before later calling police.
Cleveland Police and Fire arrived on the scene, but the victim had already succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Menefee was arrested by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force on June 29.
Cleveland Police previously stated that Menefee and the victim share children together. Menefee will be arraigned at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center at a later date.
