BROOKLYN, Ohio — A Cuyahoga County corrections officer is in custody after attempting to rob a man in Brooklyn early Sunday.

Brooklyn Police say 40-year-old Ryan Harwood was trying to rob a 21-year-old man near the area of Ridge Road and Memphis Avenue at around 4:30 a.m.

Harwood pointed what turned out to be a BB gun at the victim and was later arrested and charged with attempted robbery.

Harwood was arraigned on Monday at Parma Municipal Court and posted bond. Police in Brooklyn say the matter is still under investigation.

According to Cuyahoga County spokeswoman Mary Louise Madigan, Harwood has worked for the county since 2005. She tells 3News that employees that are charged with felonies are placed on administrative leave.
