CLEVELAND — A Saudi Arabian national residing in Cleveland has been charged with attempting to export more than 50 automatic and semi-automatic rifle barrels from the United States.
The one-count indictment of smuggling goods from the United States was handed down to 30-year-old Abdulrahman Zalah.
According to court documents, The Cleveland Division of the FBI was contacted by a firearms manufacturer regarding suspicious purchasing behavior of an individual in October 2022. The individual was later identified as Zalah.
Zalah did not obtain an export license from the United States Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) as required by law to export firearms and firearm components from the United States.
