CLEVELAND — The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced on Monday that Trooper Mykol Gardiner has been named the 2022 Trooper of the Year at the Cleveland Post.
In winning the honor, Trooper Gardiner is now in contention for the District and State Trooper of the Year Awards. Those will be announced at a later date.
The 35-year-old Gardiner was selected for the award in recognition of outstanding service during 2022 at the Cleveland Post. According to a release, fellow officers at the Cleveland Post chose Trooper Gardiner based on "leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public."
Trooper Gardiner first joined the Highway Patrol in 2017. He currently resides in Bedford Heights with his wife and two children.
