ERIE COUNTY, OHIO, Ohio — The Erie County father accused of using a cattle prod on two young children is expected to be in Vermillion Municipal Court on Thursday.
Robert Bores, 34, is accused of using a cattle prod on children, aged 7 and 8, for disciplinary purposes.
"The whole thing is just terrible," Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth said.
Sigsworth told 3News that the investigation began after one of the children told someone at school what had happened.
"Deputies went out to the residence with the children's services caseworkers and their investigation revealed that Robert Bores had apparently been using a cattle prod as a disciplinary tool on his children," said Sheriff Sigsworth.
Sigsworth told 3News that the Bores' don't have cattle on their property, just ducks and chickens.
Bores was arrested on March 13. 3News obtained body-camera video showing the Erie County Sheriff's Office take Bores into custody.
Bores asked the Erie County Sheriff's Office what charges he faces.
"There's three counts of felony domestic violence and three counts of child endangering," a deputy responded.
Sigsworth told 3News that Bores has been arrested multiple times in the past, including for domestic violence and was charged with child endangering in 2021.
"What would compel someone to use a cattle prod on a child is beyond me," said Sheriff Sigsworth.
Sigsworth told 3News that Bores admitted to detectives that he used the cattle prod on the children.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday.
