Officials searching for 'person of interest' in Euclid restaurant arson

EUCLID, Ohio — Officials are looking for a person of interest after a restaurant in Euclid was set on fire Monday morning.

The fire happened at Paragon - Wines, Martinis, Plates at 21920 Lakeshore Boulevard at around 12:40 a.m. Monday, according to the Euclid Fire Department.

When officials arrived on the scene, heavy smoke was seen between multiple buildings, including Paragon, a well-known and popular restaurant in downtown Euclid, the department said.

The Euclid Fire Department was assisted by crews from other neighboring cities including, the Richmond Heights Fire Department, South Euclid Fire Department, Wickliffe Fire Department and Willowick Fire Department.

Crews began extinguishing the fire from the rear on Brock Court, while another fire team entered the building from Lakeshore Boulevard.

Officials say the fire was eventually contained in the kitchen of the restaurant and put out around 1:20 a.m. No injuries were reported in the fire.

Paragon and Bombshell Beauty Spa, which are next door to each other, both sustained heavy smoke and heat damage from the fire. Officials estimate the total damages at nearly $250,000.

On Monday afternoon, the Euclid Fire Department and the Ohio State Fire Marshal ruled the fire as arson. 

Investigators are now searching for a person of interest who they believe is involved in the arson. Anyone with information is asked to call the Euclid Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit at 216-289-8425.
