CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of the FBI announced that an arrest has been made in relation to the March death of a 31-year-old man inside the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

According to authorities, Chelsea Denise Perkins, 31, of Florida, was taken under federal custody on Thursday and is now facing charges for murder.

31-year-old Michael Dunmire was found on March 9, 2021 at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park near the Terra Vista Cemetery. According to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office, the victim was found with a gunshot wound to the head and suffered perforations to the skull and brain.

Perkins was placed under custody without major incident in Pensacola, Florida where she currently resides, according to authorities. 

The Valley View Police Department, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Police, the United States Attorney Office – Northern District of Ohio, and the Cleveland FBI collaborated in this case.

Perkins has been charged with Title 18 USC Section 1111(a) for Murder. She is scheduled to have an initial appearance Thursday in federal court in Florida.
