CLEVELAND — The man responsible for a mass shooting that left nine people injured in Cleveland's Warehouse District more than a year ago will learn his fate on Tuesday.
Jaylon Jennings, 25, is scheduled to be sentenced in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court at 10 a.m. He pleaded no contest last month and was subsequently found guilty of various charges, including attempted murder, felonious assault, having weapons while under disability, grand theft, and receiving stolen property.
The incident occurred during the early-morning hours of July 9, 2023, on West 6th Street. Officials say Jennings and Kevin Del Valle-Salaman left Rumor Bar and Lounge at around 2 a.m. to go to Del Valle-Salaman's car, which was parked nearby. Jennings then grabbed a gun, walked back to West 6th, and waited for some of the victims to exit the bar.
Jennings then fired into a crowd of people before fleeing the scene. The nine victims who were shot ranged in age from 23-38 years. All of them survived.
Besides Jennings, Del Valle-Salaman was also arrested and later pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and obstructing justice. Authorities tell 3News he will also be sentenced on Tuesday.
For his crimes, Jennings could spend the rest of his life in prison.
