CLEVELAND — A Cleveland man has been sentenced to 19 years in prison after pleading guilty to shooting two Cleveland police officers and a 37-year-old man back in 2018.
Jonathan Chambers, 32, pled guilty to three counts of Attempted Murder on Wednesday.
On November 3, 2018, Cleveland Police were called to the scene at E. 121st Street and Cromwell Avenue for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, Chambers allegedly began shooting at them with an assault rifle.
One officer, identified as 28-year-old Shane McNea, was shot in both legs and underwent surgery at University Hospitals Medical Center.
Chambers has a lengthy criminal history, including charges for domestic violence filed three months prior to the November 2018 shooting.
“This individual’s mindless actions put three people’s lives in danger, gravely injuring a civilian and a Cleveland police officer. He is facing the consequences of his actions deservedly behind bars,” Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’ Malley said in a statement after the sentencing.
