6 charged after 24-year-old man found shot, killed inside Kalahari employee housing facility

Six individuals have been charged in connection to this crime.

SANDUSKY, Ohio — Six individuals have been charged today after a 24-year-old man was found shot and killed inside of the employee housing facility at Kalahari Indoor Waterpark in Sandusky. 

According to the Perkins Township Police Department, the situation began around 12:45 a.m. Monday when officers were called out to the scene for reports of a male who had been assaulted. 

After arriving on the scene, the victim, Dontre Ravon Tate, was found with a single gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased by officials.

An initial investigation led police to three witnesses and- with the help of a translator from the Ohio State Highway Patrol- detectives were able to discover that these witnesses had allegedly tampered with evidence.

20-year-old Sofia Alayza, 20-year-old Jems Vasquez, and 20-year-old Grims Vasquez were all charged in Erie County with tampering with evidence. 

Further investigations helped police to narrow down three individuals suspected of involvement in the shooting, and led police to three in the Toledo area where the three suspects and their vehicle were later located. 

At this time, 22-year-old Quinton Cangelo and 19-year-old Daquan D. Brown have both been charged in Erie County with aggravated burglary, while 26-year-old Delonnie C. Brown has been charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated murder. 

A representative for Kalahari Resorts & Conventions released the following statement to 3News regarding the Monday morning incident: 

"At Kalahari Resorts & Conventions we are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life that took place at Extended Stay Sandusky and extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the victim. 

We can confirm that some Kalahari associates live at the Extended Stay during their time working with us. However, due to the ongoing status of the investigation, we please ask that all further inquiries be made to the Perkins Township Police Department."

The incident remains under investigation by the Perkins Township Police Department.
