CLEVELAND — A 43-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday following a homicide that took place in East Cleveland in September.
According to a release, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) have arrested Michael Sheppard, who was wanted by the East Cleveland Police Department (ECPD) for homicide.
According to East Cleveland Police, Sheppard was involved in a verbal altercation with the victim near a home in the 1800 block of Garfield Rd. on Sept. 16. Sheppard proceeded to strike the victim with a beer can, with the victim found deceased in his apartment after a welfare check days later.
Sheppard has been featured as the fugitive of the week earlier this month. On Wednesday morning, investigators were able to locate and arrest Sheppard at a home in the 9500 block of Detroit Rd. in Cleveland.
“The violence perpetrated by offenders such as this will not be tolerated by our community members, or our law enforcement partners," U.S. Marshals Pete Elliott said in a statement. "We will work together with both to ensure that those who commit violence are removed from the community as quick as possible.”
