AKRON, Ohio — Police have announced the capture of a second suspect in connection with the murder of an Akron mother this past weekend.

According to the Akron Police Department, 19-year-old Denzel Pope was arrested on Wednesday night in Chicago after a warrant for aggravated murder had been issued.

Officers on Tuesday captured Corvette Pope, 25, after receiving "evidence and tips from the community." Akron Municipal Court records show she is charged with aggravated murder for the death of 24-year-old Paige Calich on Sunday.

Pope was arraigned in Akron Municipal Court on Wednesday with bond set at $1 million. Her case is being bound over to a Summit County grand jury.

According to authorities, Calich was shot in the torso while in the kitchen of her home at the Summit Lake Apartments on Socrates Place. The "devoted mother" of two children had just celebrated her birthday, but died from her injuries around 12:30 a.m. at an area hospital.
