CANTON, Ohio — A Massillon man has been indicted in connection with a fatal shooting that took place at a movie theater this past spring.

A grand jury this week charged Corvon Thomas, 20, with aggravated murder and felonious assault with a firearm. Stark County prosecutors claim Thomas shot two people at the Regal Massillon cinema late in the evening on May 10, killing 27-year-old Canton native Daron Davis.

The incident forced police to evacuate the theater on what would normally have been a busy Friday night, with Davis found dead inside the front lobby. Authorities say Thomas tried to flee the scene, but was eventually arrested.

Thomas pleaded not guilty on Friday and remains in the Stark County Jail on a $1 million bond. A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for this coming Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
